Oh it's good to be back where the forth of July is celebrated. It is one of my favorite holidays, mostly because of family traditions, but who can beat summer fun. So what could be more summer than pinwheels. And Lori just made making them a whole lot easier!
I used Riley Blake's Stars and Stripes fabric collection, which I picked up some fat quarters to make it simple and cheap. I then used fusible webbing (wonder under) to iron two pieces together. I trimmed the pieces to 12x12 and sent them through my Silhouette Cameo. After a couple trial and errors, I figured out if I used painters tape to secure the fabric down, and did a double cut, it worked out just fine. I sewed the flaps down, and hot glued various centers to the middle. I then hot glued wooden downs to the back, and stuck them on a pail of red and white beans. If you didn't want to go through the hassle of the fabric, some cute double sided paper would work just as easy. I just wanted mine to last more than one season. Because I haven't yet figured out how to keep my paper projects from getting squished until next season, but that is another post...
What makes this project even better - the files is FREE today, so hop back to Lori's blog and pick up the free file, so you can make yours too! Hurry, it's only free today!
And don't forget all Lori's new shapes are on sale until Saturday, June 30!

These are the cutest pinwheels I have ever seen. I like the idea of making them out of fabric. I might have to give that a try.
