Not So Spooky Haunted House

Hello again, I have a little project today on Lori Whitlock's blog that I want to share with you.  This box is super cute and I couldn't wait to make it.

It was easy to make.  I used the Haunted House file found in Lori's shop found here.  I cut it out of all the different colors.  I ran the purple roof through my Sizzix Texture Boutique to add some dimension to it. I put it all together using foam adhesive to add more depth.  Added some embellishments and added some sweet treats.  Perfect for sharing with a friend or neighbor.

For today's project, I used one of Lori's newest halloween graphics to make the plaque on this cute broom.  I cut it out from vinyl and placed it on some cute scrapbook paper, which was then mod podged to the wooden plaque.  I glued the plaque and ribbons to a broom, and then sprayed the whole thing with glitter blast.  It was a fun quick project that will make my front porch look cutier than ever!

Happy Halloween

 I love Halloween, I love to colors, the fun crazy themes, and all the candy that goes with it.  I most love to decorate for Halloween.  So today, not only do I have one, but two projects for you.

The first project I have is this darling banner.  I was so happy to see this in Lori's shop, because I had the perfect spot to put it in.  I was very easy to put together, All the parts are included in the file.  I used K & Co. Halloween paper pack and coordinating chipboard shape.  The banner file can be found in Lori's store here.

How cute are these potion bottles.  I couldn't stop with just one, I had to make all five.  I used My Mind's Eye's Halloween paper, black and orange card stock, and various ribbons and fibers.  You can find all five potion bottles in Lori's shop here:

So on to my project. I used Lori's acorn box. It was quite simple to make.  What is fun about this box, is that not only does it look cute, but it is an open box that you can hide something special in it.  Pull the acorn top and you could hide treats, gift cards or anything you want to send to someone special.  These would look darling as Thanksgiving center pieces, name place cards, or even just a small gift of "thanks".

I used this acorn file found in Lori Whitlock's shop here, cream card stock and Echo Park's Fall Fever collection.  Once put together, I used a tag from the paper collection, added some stickers, the die cut leave, and tied it with some cute twine and ribbon.

Ding Dong.... the Witch is Dead!

Happy Halloween!  I am just getting into the holiday mood, the house is decorated (after endless begging of my children) and it's starting to cool off, so I guess it's that time of year again.

The other day, I was at the grocery store, searching for a treat for my little scout group, and I ran across Hostess Ding Dongs.... First let me tell you I have a secret obsession with Hostess, maybe because I had a three year drought while we were in Canada, because ever since we came back, there has been plenty of zingers, donuts, fruit pies, you name it, we have tried it.  So I giggled a little the other day when I came across the Ding Dongs knowing we haven't tried them yet, mainly since I don't really love chocolate cake, my kids do, I could pass on the calories.  But when I saw them, immediately I had the phrase, Ding Dong the witch is dead come to mind.  Crazy how craft projects come to mind in the oddest places. I bought them, and as soon as I came home from the grocery store, I ran to the computer to see if Lori had a cute box, or bag, or something that I could put these little babies inside.  And sure enough she did.  So now the hardest part is to figure out who to give them too....(and hope I don't offend them...hee hee)

I used Lori's Witch at box found here, her tag set found here, and a K & Co. Halloween paper pack.  The box was super easy to assemble.  After assembling it, I added the black paper behind the hat so you could see it better, added some buttons, and washi tape.  I finished it off by tying the tag with twine, and adding three little ding dongs to it...  Fast, simple and couldn't be cuter.

Our Halloween was a great success despite the snow and ice that we received the night before.  Before the traditional trick or treating, we hosted our annual Halloween dinner.  We invited a couple of friends and their children over to enjoy this night with us... This three course meal is ordered from a menu with less than traditional items.  Each item, including utensils is cleverly disguised with a "spooky" name, and ordered in three courses.  The fun part is guessing what each item is and hoping you get actually get something to eat with appropriate eating utensils.  For example, my son ordered his first round two drinks, a napkin and a knife.  It doesn't take long for you to ask what your neighbor ordered and figure out the appropriate things to order the second round.  Would you like to know what we had, or a translation of our menu?

Despite the crude names, the food was delicious!  It brought plenty of giggles from the kids and some of the adults as well.  It was a a great night with fun families.

After dinner, we got all nine kids ready to go trick or treating, and what mother wouldn't want to show off her little ones in all their Halloween glory!

We had a tooth fairy - a soldier - and Harry Potter and Hermione Granger.  My oldest decided he was too old to go with the little kids, so he and his friends went out where they could get the most candy in a neighborhood with town houses.  He left before I could get a good picture of him, but snapped on when he got home.  

Here is a little close up of the tooth fairy bag I made for my littlest with Lori's die cut shapes. She needed something to hold her "toofs and pixie dust"!

What do you do when your kids school doesn't allow costumes on Halloween?  You make something super cute to send your daughter in for the holiday.  And if you make one, then little sister will want one too.  So of course I had to make both girls one.  My oldest daughter has been bugging me all week to let her wear it, but she had to wait for me to take pictures, just incase a small catastrophe happened in first grade.  Just look at how happy she was to finally get to wear it, or she just wants to be a model, who knows!
