For today's project, I used one of Lori's newest halloween graphics to make the plaque on this cute broom.  I cut it out from vinyl and placed it on some cute scrapbook paper, which was then mod podged to the wooden plaque.  I glued the plaque and ribbons to a broom, and then sprayed the whole thing with glitter blast.  It was a fun quick project that will make my front porch look cutier than ever!

Valentine Chalkboard

As Valentines Day gets close, I get more and more in the mood to make hearts, cookies and just fun stuff.  The other day I went to Home Depot, looking for "something" to make a Valentine sign for my front porch, but, came back with a giant chalkboard.  They had pre-made chalkboard and even dry erase boards that I knew needed to come home with me.  So this project was born.

Since I didn't have to cut wood or paint, this came together really fast.  I just picked some of my favorite Valentine files from Lori's shop, and cut them out of hot pink, light pink and white vinyl.    This thing is big, 2 feet by 4 feet actually.  So my vinyl shapes were big too... I took out the you from the phrase file, and added a little heart to the O.  It turned out so cute, and my kids loved it when they saw it, and lots of little pictures and words have already been drawn all over it.  I plan on changing it once a day until Valentines.  I've already been asked numerous times when it's their turn to be on the board!  Happy Valentines!

Bring on the bling - Pretty up your bike!

Hello - I am super excited to share this fun little project with you today, maybe because I love all things girly and sparkly or maybe because I became super mom when my daughter saw this.  She jumped up and down with joy and is praying that the weather holds up so she can ride it as soon as she comes home from school.

So this isn't originally my idea, my sister had done something similar to her daughters bike, removing some girly stickers and personalizing it for a not so girly girl.  Hers turned out darling, so of course, like with all good ideas, its worth stealing the idea and making it your own.

My daughters bike wasn't terrible, in fact we just bought it for her.  She loved it because it was purple, and after we added the basket, it was perfect.  But the stickers on it, for me, well it was a little much.  So we sat and pealed them all of, surprisingly they came of easy.  So I got to work with a little sparkly vinyl and my silhouette cameo.

I used Lori Whitlocks files for the heart, flower and border.  We also had to name the bike, so the purp-cycle it became.  Her bike also had the foam and vinyl cover over the handle bars that i turned inside out and added "I heart my bike" to it.



While i put the vinyl on, I found that it was easier to use a more delicate border, only because it was a little easier to bend with the curvature of the bike frame.  It was a little challenging applying it, but I think the more loose and loopy the flowers and the loopy border, just helped that it was a little free fitting on the frame.  I loved how it turned out, and most importantly my daughter did too.  I just might be doing little sisters and her big brothers... (he is still thinking of the perfect name for his bike.)

Just think of all those scooters and bikes in the world that could be made over... birthday, Christmas gifts perhaps?

Spring Fever

Well - at last I am feeling a little settled.  I have unpacked the last of the boxes.  Still have some organizing left, but pictures are hung, and it looks like a real house.  I hate moving, and will die before I do it again.

But being settled brings time to get some projects done.  I have been having a little fun in my new office, so I thought I would share with you!

My first project was some gifts I gave away for mothers day to my kids "other" mothers.  I found a tutorial for these super cute momma bird necklaces, and knew between that and a super cute box, it would be a rockin' gift.  I used Lori Whitlock's hello Summer paper collection from Echo Park and her cute necklace box file found here, then topped it off with a cute flower found here.

ok, next up to bat was a fun and simple count down.  I have always wanted to make one of these, and never had the spot to put it, until now... so I grabbed an unfinished 12x12 frame, painted it turquoise, and inserted a 12x12 chalkboard.  To top it off, a little vinyl countdown.  I think its message gets changes once or twice daily, but it's all good.  I guess they are excited about school getting out, because all of my kids have written schools out and changed the day number.... I even think it looks cuter with their hand wrtiting on it...

ok, last but not least, I dressed up some pots for my front porch.  I saw some pots on pinterest that had painted polka dots on them, and I thought I could do better than that, so with some out door vinyl, a couple of borders, a house number and a G - for Graham of course, I made my front entry so happy!

Just wish me luck keeping my plants alive for the summer!

Chrsitmas Vinyl

So is everyone gearing up for the big holiday season - we are finally getting things off and rolling here.  We finally completed the house with decorating the tree just yesterday!

So today I wanted to share a quick little project with you.  I love vinyl, I love it because it always looks so clean and neat looking - but I love it because it makes you look all professional and yet, it is so easy to work with.

Last year I had some vinyl on my tile around my fireplace and loved it.  It completed the fireplace perfectly but was easy to remove once the holiday was over.... so here is my 2011 version.  I used Lori's files here, here, and here, and used my cricut to cut it out of red and white vinyl.  Try it for yourself, you'll love it!
